It's a long-game play
Republicans may win this battle, but they will lose the war. Exhibit A is the Young Republican Federation of Alabama. They pulled their support of Roy Moore. So what do establishment Rs in AL do? Request that they lose their seat on a Republican steering committee. Young people are getting more progressive on social issues. Even young Republicans. For whatever reason, both Republican and Democrat millenials are anti-child molesting. That seems to be a red line. If old Rs want to sell their souls to win the battle for a Senate seat in AL that would immedialely flip back to an R the next election, that's on them. But they are showing a generation of younger voters how truly disgusting their politics are, and what they are willing to put up with (anything, apparently). Party before opposing child molester, I guess. Young people, care to join Republicans and their forward thinking views? Taking a firm stand against sexual harassment/assault requires a firm position. It's nice to see Dems growing a backbone. The country will be better off for it.
